Hello and welcome. My name is Tabitha McDonald. I am an intuitive and transformation coach and this episode is a short mini episode in my 12 part series on the 12 gifts that you can give your future self. And today I want to talk to you about the gift of structure. I love it because my coach, chris, he, always says structure is the new sexy, and I could not understand that for the longest time until I started creating new structures for myself.

Speaker 1:

A structure really refers to the foundation of the house you're building for your life. So if you think about it like this, our old structure is the beliefs, the thoughts, the behaviors, the emotions of our life, of the way that we operate in the world, and a lot of us try to go for changes. And right now it's the beginning of the year, so there's a lot of momentum and energy and excitement in the conscious collective around goals and setting, finally reaching those achievements that we've been wanting to achieve. And what happens is a lot of the time we go for it. We use a lot of willpower and momentum in the beginning of the year and we set these really big goals, which I love. I think this is amazing and then part of the way through the year we forget about those goals and we get distracted and life happens and we might find ourselves in familiar self-sabotage patterns. Or life gets in the way, right Like life gets in the way, and what happens is we return to the structure that we're familiar with and that is the old set of beliefs and the old behaviors and the old emotions that created our original structure, also, you know, really entwined with our personality and what we think we're capable of experiencing in the world. So what we do with Magnetic Mind is we create an entirely new structure, so that is called the structure of the end result. And this is really where the magic happens, because we create from the future.

Speaker 1:

So, like, let's just use weight loss as an example. So this is, you know, reaching my goal. Weight this year is one of the things that is on my top objectives for the year, and I used to always get into the structure of I'm going to try the next bad diet, I'm going to do these shakes, I'm going to do this magic pill that's going to shift everything for me. But the problem was is I was never changing my structure, I was only changing the mechanism with which I did it. Right. So I never really changed my beliefs, my thoughts. I didn't change the foundation of who I was and what I believed. I was still operating from my old structure, the one that believed I needed to lose weight.

Speaker 1:

Now, the key to that is, in order for me to be someone who wants to lose weight, I always have to gain weight that I can lose, which is the oscillating pattern I was operating in for most of my life. So what I had to do was go back and say, okay, now I need a new structure, and so if I'm not focused on losing weight, what is it that I'm really focused on? Because I want to lose weight, that's what I want. And then I thought, well, what do I really want? What I really want is a strong body. What I really want is to look sexy in my clothes, and what I really want is to age gracefully and to feel youthful and have energy. And what I really want is to be able to go do really fun things and not worry about my weight. I want to be able to go on roller coasters. I want to know that I can always snap the seat belts on the airplane seat. I want to know that you know when I'm in my 80s I can get off the toilet and that my kids aren't going to have to lift me off because I'm obese and because I'm not strong enough. I want to know that you know my mind is clear and that it's healthy as I age. I want to make sure that I have mental clarity and high cognitive functioning as I age. Those are the things that I really wanted. And yeah, I want to look fricking, smoking hot in a bathing suit when I go to the beach. Yeah, I totally want that.

Speaker 1:

And so when I stopped getting out of the mindset I need to lose weight, because when I focus on losing weight, what happens is I have to have weight there to lose, so I'll keep gaining it, so I can keep losing it, because my mind likes to do something that it's successful at. It knows how to lose 20 pounds, so it'll keep gaining the same 20 pounds and losing it because it wants to be successful and it knows how to do that. So that's kind of the pattern of self-sabotage. So when we change our structure, we change the decision making. So this year when I set out and I thought you know, what I really want at the end of the year is to celebrate reaching my goal weight and I want to feel like I have a healthy relationship with food. I want to feel strong, I want to feel energized, and I just started focusing on the new structure.

Speaker 1:

Then, all of a sudden, I got into the energy and the emotion of feeling healthy. And as soon as I stepped into that moment in the future where I was there and I had it, I had the wardrobe, I wanted the body, I wanted the energy levels, I wanted the mental clarity, I wanted you step into that moment. And then you ask that version of you for advice and most of the time it's not going to be the advice that you think. So, like I did that. I do this every morning when I do my meditation. And the answer for this year I was expecting like do the 369 liver cleanse, like start the year with Whole30. And I kept trying to like manipulate it into being one of those things because it made me, it makes me feel productive. And the real answer was start exercising, start small, and that's it. And so, and it was also schedule out your workouts and that's it, that's all you have to do. And it's kind of mad because I was expecting this like big hurrah gesture, and it was really that simple. And so I cleaned up my gym and I created a workout routine and schedule for myself and I'm committed to sticking to it.

Speaker 1:

And I know that the way that this is working is it's breaking down my old structure of I have to do some kind of really massive diet in order to make results, and it's helping me build in those slow, healthy habits that are necessary in order for me to really become that person, not to hit a destination on the scale. That's the old structure. I'm actually becoming this healthy person that prioritizes exercise and makes small changes to the way that they're, to my diet and how I eat and how I hydrate and how I sleep, and I've made massive changes over the last few years in my mental and emotional health. Now it's just time for me to take those shifts and apply it to my body. So I've changed my structure of needing to lose weight to actually I'm just really healthy and this is what a healthy person does.

Speaker 1:

So how do we do that? It takes some practice and it takes a daily routine of stepping back into your end results, really looking at the structure of who you're becoming, pulling that energy and that wisdom back into today and then taking the aligned action step, even if in the moment it completely contradicts what you think is true, because the version of you today doesn't have the same belief structure that the version of the person that you're becoming has. They don't have the same beliefs yet, but when we continue to take action steps in the mindset of the future version of us that already has it, we become them, and we don't even realize we're becoming them until one day we wake up and it's just automatic for us to have the same thoughts, beliefs and behaviors that that future version of us had. But the important thing is to remember is that we have to get out of our own way. We have to stop acting from the past and start creating from the future. And that is the gift of structure. It's operating from the structure of the person you are becoming, not from the person you've always been. I hope this was helpful.
